Our Chapter encompasses the area of Michigan from the shore of Lake Michigan west to Jackson, MI and south to include the four north-eastern counties in Indiana.
The Indiana National Lakeshore and the beaches of Lake Michigan give way to the blueberry, peach, apple orchards and rolling vineyards of grapes and wineries. The area also boasts the Gilmore Car Museum with more than 175 Classic and Antique cars. South Bend prides itself with the Studebaker Museum, the Oliver Mansion and Tippecanoe Place. For a slower pace, visit one of the area's Amish communities.
South central Michigan consists of forests, rolling hills and farmland with the its two largest cities, Kalamazoo and Jackson. Kalamazoo recently opened an Air Zoo showcasing a collection of vintage aircraft. For outdoor adventure, ride bikes along the Kal-Haven Trail which stretches over 33 miles from Kalamazoo to South Haven or try the hiking trails which wind through over 1000 acres of botanical gardens in the Kalamazoo Nature Center. Young and old alike will enjoy a day at the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek.
Jackson is rich in history and heritage where you will find some of the oldest homes in the state. Jackson was instrumental in the Underground Railroad, the Civil War, as well as being the birthplace of the Republican Party. Golf is one of Jackson's recreational assets. It has one of highest concentrations of golf courses in the nation and has been rated one of the best golf values by Golf Digest.
From Jackson, south through Hillsdale County, you will find the perfect location to hunt, fish, bike, hike and shop for antiques. There are hundreds of lakes in this area for recreation. From beaches to back roads, cozy getaways to world class museums, you'll find it all in Michiana.
