Rich in natural resources with a balance of urban and rural environments, our chapter covers central and southeastern Michigan, including the "thumb".

Some of the state's largest cities and counties fall in the Michigan State chapter region. The Detroit metro area (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties) are in southeastern Michigan. Life here revolves around the city of Detroit - home of the Motown sound, the invention of the automobile, plus art galleries and professional theatre. The greater Lansing area (Ingham, Eaton and Shiawassee counties) are in the "middle of the mitten".  Located on the picturesque banks of the Grand River, the area is alive with history, culture and is home to our state capitol. The Greater Ann Arbor area (Washtenaw and Livingston counties) are just 45 miles west of Detroit and 35 miles north of the Ohio border.  Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan, one of the country's top universities. It shapes the city's economy, population, and cultural awareness.
